Writers' Rooms

One of the joys of Saturday's Guardian
is in the Review section
a series looking at the rooms where
some of our greatest living writers work

I dreamed of one day being featured
but with yesterday's Review section came the news
that Writers' Rooms has been replaced with
Artists' Rooms
And so
as it appears it will no longer get the chance to be featured
here is my writing room

The glasses on the desk are essential
as too the music player - currently repeating
the soundtrack to Tom Tykwer's 2006 film
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
also on the desk a stack of till receipts waiting
to be entered into Microsoft Money
tourist guides to Fleetwood that the woman in the
Tourist Information Office wouldn't let me leave without
through the window I can watch the Catholics come and go
to the church opposite

moments after the picture was taken a cup of tea arrived
